Redevelopment Application for the North Shore Golf Course Information  It is looking increasingly unlikely that the Northshore Golf Course will be redeveloped into the dense community envisioned by Northshore Investors.  The developer has lost their appeal of the Northshore January 2010 Hearing Examiner Decision.  A full report can be found at http://www.pnwlocalnews.com/south_king/fwm/news/125190174.html.

New Federal Way Animal Services:  As of 7/1/10 Federal Way took over Animal Services from King County with two dedicated officers. King County had been charging Federal Way $750,000 annually for their services and the city can do it much cheaper.  An officer is on patrol six days a week from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM.If you call the animal services number you will get a recording. Call 911 if animal emergency and police officers are expected to respond, otherwise please call (253) 835-PETS.

Neighborhood Watch: There have been a few recent incidents of burglary and car break ins.  Learn how to keep your home safe!    Please report all thefts, not mater how small the value to the Federal Way Police Department at 911.  Visit our Neighborhood Watch Section to see helpful tips and more!

  • During our 2010 Annual Meeting, Kelly Crouch from the Federal Way Police Department gave special tips for our neighborhood, some unique to the holiday season:

  • Breakdown boxes at Christmas time and turn inside out so on garbage day people cannot see the new items you have inside your home.
  • Secure the interior door from your garage into your home as there have been 3 break-ins in the neighborhood through the interior.
  • Stop mail, online, when away from home
  • Secure slider doors and windows with more than one lock. Recently a break in resulted from lifting a sliding door off the track
  • Numerous vehicle break-ins. Some vehicles were unsecured; others broke window. Do not keep purses and laptops in vehicles. Bring GPS inside home. Do not put GPS in glove box or console. The suction cup circle on windshield indicates there is a GPS in the car. They go for $50-$75 at the pawn shop.

Rules and Regulations were adopted by the board of directors during 2007 setting a reasonable and fair method to improve the enforcements of our covenants.  This is intended to provide protection to the neighborhood as a last resort means of motivation to those few homes that are clearly out of compliance and fail to respond to the normal friendly reminders.  Here you can find an explanation and the full process the board has adopted.

Coyote Information.  Please keep a close watch on your small pets.  As most of you know a family of coyotes makes their home between our green belts and Dash Point State Park.  These animals can often be seen and heard within the neighborhood.
