Old Business:
Mail boxes:
It was discussed that the four mailboxes on 47th should be replaced this spring and the remaining 5 mailboxes should be replaced in the fall depending on the budget. Elizabeth will find a new vendor to order the mailboxes from since the previous vendor does not seem to be interested in our business. Elizabeth will present the cost at the April HOA meeting.
The locations of the outstanding mailboxes are:
1 on the corner of 46th Court and 329th , 4 on 47th , 3 on 329th and 1 on 49th Pl SW
Officer vacancies:
The HOA is still looking for volunteers for the following vacancies:
Vice President, Secretary, We encourage all of our homeowners to get involved.
Homeowner information/email addresses:
The homeowner database is continually being updated. The HOA has 124 email addresses to date.
Ground Water problem on 47th Ave.
Eric Elgar sent the following email on February 23rd regarding the surface water on 47th.
“I finally got a call back today from John MacGillivray, Supervisor, Surface Water, from the Federal Way Public Works Office (253) 835-2755. They have pictures of the little geyser at the south end of 47th Avenue. They are actively working to resolve the issue. It may take a little time as the ground water issue is likely within Tacoma. He did mention that Stonebrook is notorious for surface water issues.”
Coyotes:
It was reported by homeowners George and Sue Fuller that there is a pack of 6 coyotes in our area. . Elizabeth mentioned that if a homeowner can take a picture of the coyotes and forward to her, she will then forward to Wolf Haven International. For more information the website is: http://www.wolfhaven.org. Just a reminder to homeowners to watch their small pets.
Graffiti behind the Stonebrook entrance sign:
Robin and Debra will check with Mike Sullivan as to who has the paint to clean up the graffiti. They have volunteered to do the painting.
New Business:
Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale
The sale is held every year on the first Saturday in May. This year that date is May 5th. The form to participate was mailed along with the newsletter and is also available on the website. We are looking for volunteers to set up the signs on Saturday morning. Eloise will place the ads in the local newspapers.
Correction notice: There will be no “preview sale” on Friday, May 4th.
Northshore Golf Course Development
There is a meeting on Wednesday, March 14th at Meeker Middle School and is open to the public. Eric Elgar has been attending all of the meetings and wrote an article for the Stonebrook newsletter. Information is also posted on our HOA website www.stonebrook.net. Elizabeth relayed a message from Eric that the Save NE Tacoma Group is looking for contributions to help pay for the cost of attorney fees related to this development. Kerry, Robin and Cynthia will make their decision after discussing with Mike Sullivan.
Neighborhood burglaries
A notice was mailed with the newsletter informing homeowners of the recent burglaries in our neighborhood. It was discussed that perhaps Stonebrook get involved with the Neighborhood Watch program again. Teri mentioned that it was brought up a few years ago and no one got involved. We will bring up for discussion again at the April meeting. For information on the national neighborhood watch program see their website at http://www.nnwi.org.
Newsletter:
Kerry mentioned how the newsletter is a great form of communication and perhaps we should consider publishing more frequently. Kerry brought up for consideration to sell advertising space in the newsletter and on the website. This would generate additional income and offset the cost.
Welcoming Committee:
Sue Fuller said she was interested in working on this committee. Teri said the HOA has some of the old welcome packet information and will pass on to Sue at the April meeting.
Adjournment:
The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 pm.
Next Meeting: April 10th, 7:00pm location: Elizabeth Marcoccia’s home: 33105 49th Ave SW
